The horses running off each side of the canvas represent instinct. The other forms of the painting include an open cross-section of a human heart and behind that, cartoon-like skeletal forms. I often draw human figures that have some sort of transparency about them. Either skeletons, forms with holes in them, or abstracted pieces of internal organs like intestines.
